Name change

My former blog MARATHONDOG3 is being change to Classic Bodybuilding Memories to better reflect the purpose of the blog.I intend to post some of my experiences of over 50 years in bodybuilding and the collection of memorabilia.
My computer skills have declined so if someone can explain how I can post comments on other blogs such as Classic Physique Builder I would be very greatful. Who knows, with a little luck I may even be able to twitter

  1. I had a great workout this morning.Over a year ago I had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic which caused two torn rotater cuffs and extreme pain in my knees.I could not touch my left shoulder with my right hand or vice versa.Physio was out of the question because of the extent of my injuries. Using the knowledge I accumulated over the years of training I did my own reabilitating training. I am now back up to training at about the same level I was before my setback. With the proper training and nutrition anybody can improve theirselves.Just don't give up.

  2. I just got back from Chapters book store. Spent some time glancing through some the latest issues of several bodybulding magazines mostly filled with advertising, bloated bodybuilders with bodies acheived with the aid of various chemicals and a few pictures of scantly clad females. I would not pay 50 cents for any of these magazines. Yes they appeal to modern day bodybuilders who wish to achieve freakish bodies through whatever methods necessary. If that is someone's choice all the best to them(although I have noticed a lot more young bodybuilders dying recently).
When I started bodybuilding we didn't call it that.We just said we lift weights. We wanted to acheive bigger arms, shoulders, back, legs and smaller waist. We trained for size a proportion with role models such as Steve Reeves And Reg Park. Our goals were to create strong healty bodies. Some did it to improve their other athletic abilities or self confidence. A lot did it to appeal to the opposite sex.
The magazines (although they had teir necessary amount of advertising) focused on basic routines and nutrtion that actually worked.
Today the only two North American magazines that focus on building an above average physique simlar to the old days seem to be Classic Physique Builder and Reps magazine.
Interseting fact most of the big name bodybuilder from the 50's and early 60's seemed to live long healthy lives.
